Two to seven days after I have sex which is sometimes painful with my male companion, I begin to bleed. Could this be a result of the blood thinner I take? Bleeding after intercourse, also called postcoital bleeding, should be taken very seriously. Most women notice postcoital bleeding within one to two hours after having sex. In two studies in the United States, postcoital bleeding led to a diagnosis of cervical cancer between six and 10 percent of the time.

Spotting and bleeding between periods
Clue is on a mission to help you understand your body, periods, ovulation, and so much more. Start tracking today. In Clue, spotting is any bleeding outside your menstrual period. Light bleeding at the beginning or end of your period is not spotting. Any unexplained spotting should be addressed with your healthcare provider.
There are several reasons why a woman might experience spotting. Spotting can be an early symptom of pregnancy, a side effect of birth control, or a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Between 10 and 14 days after you conceive, the fertilized egg — now called a blastocyst — implants itself into the lining of the uterus. The implantation can irritate and move the lining, which can cause spotting. This is usually referred to as implantation bleeding.
